Twas the night before Christmas, well almost, and there was more than a few sturs in the House of MEERSON. Instead of slowing down in preparation for the holiday period, we were finalising the first run of our Mutiny Chronograph collection.
Like all of our watches, the Mutiny is 100% Swiss made, so the team travelled over to Switzerland to join our artisans for the final stages of assembly. But unlike our other collections, the Mutiny is completely bespoke, meaning every component of every watch that was crafted is one of one. Thankfully our expert artisans dealt with this challenge and the extra pressure that came with it with ease.
Based in a cosy converted house hidden in-between the dwarfing surround mountains, the MEERSON artisans are some of the most talented in the world. To be able to witness them at work was truly special, especially as they were assembling the unique timepieces we had been working on throughout the year. Over the course of the last six months, owners were able to shape their Mutiny via one on one design sessions with Alexandre, who then went away to design the perfect watch for them.
Alexandre believes that creating true high fashion requires intimacy between the designer, the client and the artisan. It is very much the spirit of Haute Couture and is incredibly modern and relevant today.
After the watch designs were approved, thanks to 3D renderings, production began. Unbelievably the manufacturing process of a MEERSON timepiece requires the work of 88 artisans, each specialising in the creation of a certain element of the watch.
No concession is ever made on quality or craftsmanship and every element carefully considered to create watches that embody today’s luxury. We only partner with artisans who share our values; they have become our friends and have joined us on this quest for excellence and style. We are extremely grateful to them for allowing us to sit in on such delicate and precise work.
We are now looking forward to round two, and can't wait to help more start their mutiny. A deposit of £500 will secure your order in the next manufacturing run, for worldwide delivery from May 2018.
